How Implants Are Placed

Next to your natural teeth, implants are the most realistic tooth replacement option due to the stability they offer. To provide such stability a biocompatible titanium implant post is surgically placed into your jaw to replace the root of your tooth. This not only provides stability, it also helps to preserve the healthy and integrity of your jawbone because your root does more than just support and stabilize your tooth, it stimulates a healthy flow of blood and nutrients to your jawbone whenever you bite down or chew. Because implants are a surgical procedure, the correct execution of their placement is crucial.

The Implant Placement Procedure

Many dentists refer their patients to a dental surgeon for implant placement. That means an extra visit to a different office. Just Wright Dental provides implant placement and restoration in one office, saving you the extra time and travel. Implant placement is a delicate and highly detailed process which requires comprehensive 3D images of your teeth, your jawbone, and surrounding oral structures for a clear picture of your oral health, and precise placement of the implant. Based on these images, Dr. Wright will create a precise surgical guide that will ensure each implant post is properly spaced and positioned.

After the Placement

Once the implant posts are inserted, your jawbone fuses to the implant providing the same stability as your natural root.  This healing process can take four to six months. Once the healing is complete, Dr. Wright will attach connective abutments to the post (some posts come equipped with the abutment so this step is not required) and finally your permanent crown.
